We have an old Ouija board and on each corner there are the following Egyption Gods (i think their gods) Isis, Sokar, Osiris, Anubis. What do they mean?

Isis is the oldest of the old. She is the first mother, the mother of Osiris.

Osiris is the Egyptian prototype for Christ, the God who is killed, yet to arise once again.

Anubis is the Egyptian god of the underworld, not hell, but the god of the dead.

Sokar was the patron of the workers who made materials for mumification.

Basically they are a variety of Egyptian Gods and goddesses who dealt with life and death.

In any event, the Ouija board isn't somethign to simply play with as it can open avenues or pathways that you might not be ready to deal with. If you really want to practice some sort of divination, do it with something that is a little less dangerous. Try using Tarot cards or something that isn't opening up chanels to spirits.

You can find a good beginner course on tarot at Magicka School, for free. the link is below. The Ouija board is cool to look at, but using it, you're never sure who's on the other end. Christians will tell you it's the devil, but as I don't believe in the devil, I believe it's spirits not yet fully crossed over. Using the board, without preparation and safety is sort of like picking up the phone and dialing a random number... you never know who you'll get, and if you haven't taken precautions, you could wind up getting a little closer to someone you really don't want to be with.

Isis and Osiris are the Egyptian major Goddess and God figures. Anubis is the jackal headed God of death. Not familiar with Sokar.

Regarding Ouija boards, I would recommend not playing with them. They are used for communicating with disencarnate entities, things or beings without bodies, spirits if you will. Just because they do not have bodies right now does not make them 1) wise, 2) kind or 3) all knowing. For that matter, the "advice" you are getting may or may not be what someone who is working the board with you is doing.

I am a student of esoteric wisdom, not that I claim to have much myself. Just leave the Ouija board alone, please.

I don't understand why people don't do their own research.

Yes, they're Egyptian gods.

Isis is a goddess in Egyptian mythology. She was most prominent mythologically as the wife and sister of Osiris and mother of Horus, and was worshipped as the archetypical wife and mother.

Seker (also spelt Sokar, and Sokaris, and in Greek, Socharis) was originally, during the Old Kingdom, the deification of the act of separating the Ba from the Ka, roughly the separation of soul from the body, after death.

Osiris (Greek language, also Usiris; the Egyptian language name is variously transliterated Asar, Aser, Ausar, Wesir, or Ausare) is the Egyptian god of life, death and fertility.

Anubis is the Greek name for the ancient jackal-headed god of the dead in Egyptian mythology whose hieroglyphic is more accurately spelled Anpu (also Anup, Anupu, Wip, Ienpw, Inepu, Yinepu, or Inpw).

I don't know. I never believed it when other people told me you can have some really weird, sometimes dangerous experiences with one, but you can!

I was playing it with a friend. I asked about my boyfriend, if he would be home if i came over. It spelled t o h i g h t o w o r k.

Know what that spells? To high to work. This is a guy who never misses a day!

I go over there the next day, and said how are you?

He says, "Not too good, I missed a day, I was too high to work!"

I saw my friend unconsciously almost follow it out of the window! Her fingers were not under it, either. All her fingers were on it. It sure looked like that planchette was moving by itself in thin air!

My Mother broke it over her knee, and said, "That is not going to be in my house anymore!"

Get rid of that thing. I've seen some WEIRD stuff happen while using that. Some people think its not real but Ive seen the little piece you put your hands on, move by itself. Its going to attract all the wrong "entities" and could really freak you out.
