It is a family day, and the Pilgrim heritage story has little to do with why we celebrate it as we now do. It's more a combination of giving thanks for the freedom we have and the lives we are so very fortunate to be able to live.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I think Thanksgiving is for giving and sharing and being thankful for the many things we have instead of focusing on what we don't have.
I am thankful for family & friends, glad to be living in America in spite of our problems, thankful that I am retired, that I'm smart & have many, many hobbies to keep me busy & so much more.
I often thought it would be nice for each person at dinner to say one thing they're happy for besides family & friends then it would remind us of the true meaning of Thanksgiving.

A day to pause w/ family and/or friends, and reflect upon why you are thankful. The Pilgrims did, as they were thankful for making it across the Atlantic in that rickety boat. And the Indians were thankful they weren't put on reservatiosn (yet).

For me Thanksgiving Day is annother day of being with the family. We aren't "turkey" people....we buy it but it's kinda of liek because we have to. Also we don't all eat at the same time.........there's more than 40 of us so we just eat when we are hungry but really I'm glad for Thanskgiving. It's one of those few days of the year when I get to see my cousins...or half of them at least...then there's Christmas, New Year's, and B-Days.

Thaksgiving day is just like any other day to me. Every day that God gives me to live is a miracle in itself, and that is why I thank God each and every day. Just like all the other celebrated days, thanksgiving day is another commercial day that greatly benefits the merchants of the world, and puts the evarage person in debt......KECK

Thanksgiving is about the brutal desecration of a culture (Native Americans) by Europeans who did not understand that they were giving smallpox to all their new friends.

It's a day to remember how our forefather's celebrated their success in the "New World" to that date, and how God had Blessed them with their successes, and a day to imitate or immulate that celebration and Thanksgiving to our Lord Jesus Christ. God Bless you.
