what's the purpose of a sex scene in a movie? If it's a movie about cheating your spouse, i see the purpose, but i really don't get the purpose of a lot of the sex scenes in movies and reference to sex in movies.

2. Sometimes it's necessary to show the depth of a relationship between characters. A good example is the sex scene in Braveheart... pretty non-grpahic but deeply moving.

The purpose is that men want to have sex and so do women. It is a lie to leave the sex out and call it romance when you nknow that it is all about having sex. Cutting out the sex is lying. Romance is good but sex is bad. WRONG! They are part and parcell to each other. If a person is ashamed of sex being ther then they should be ashamed of being human.

A lot of times it is for shock value in a movie or because it is Hollywood and they want to make the movie more appealing to people. a lot of people like the sex aspects of films and think it adds to the believeability of the film

I totally, positively agree! Why? B/C unfortunately that's part of how they make money of movies, but there's no point for them to be in movies at all!
