I usually carry on reading. Sometimes it's really interesting to re-read a book. You already know the plot, the characters and the major details but when you re-read, you sometimes find interesting things or aspects that you missed the first time through. Some of the newer books have many layers of meaning, and you really do have to read them several times to appreciate each of the parallel events.

It doesn't happen often to me, but I did finish a book a second time after starting it by mistake. I have read a number of books at least twice including Small World and Changing Places by David Lodge

If I read books that I've read before I usually read just the chapter I liked the most or I don't read it at all.
