Complex biology.
Which is also why a minority of us get attracted to the same sex instead or in addition (coincidentally, this area of Yahoo! answers is for questions that pertain to members of that minority... also for transgendered people, who tend to face similar issues.)
Of that complex biology, pheromones play a large part. Pheromones are chemicals that relate to scent, but usually go unnoticed by the conscious brain. Female pheromones trigger sexual responsiveness in men, and male pheromones do the same to women. (A recent study has shown that most gay men react to the same pheromones as straight women do, though I don't recall if a similar test was done with lesbians.)

Do we understand what this question is about ? Ok, if opposites didn't attract each other, the human race would haved ceased to exist thousands of years ago. It's in our nature and make up for continued survival.

We are like every other living thing on this planet, our brains interpret millions of stimuli and influence our behaviors greatly. There is such a thing called 'love' and 'attraction' which really just exists simply to ensure the procreation of our species. It's called biology. Not difficult to understand.

I have the greatest respect and love for my brother, but I have never felt "attracted" to a man in the way you mean.
My loss, their gain ?
Frankly my dear, I don't give a stout rodent's fundament.

chemicals natural ones given off by the other gender cause a reaction within the persons brain and then body. the reason for this i think is to avoid being all alone and to increase propagation of the earth

I don't, I'm 100 % lesbian. I have male friends, but I've never been physically attracted to them. (I'm confused, why do you ask this in LGBT forum? did I miss something?...it's late, I'm tired...)
