Pipe dance--a fun dance and a dance of courage, the dancer was supposed to look so silly doing the dance that he was risking ridicule from the viewers by doing it.

Smoke dance--war dance

hoop dance--not familiar with this one

deer dance--hunting dance

dog dance--not familiar with this one

most dancing was used as a form of prayer, as a way to excite the group before an action--as in a war dance or a hunting dance, or as a part of a pathway to an altered state of consciousness.
