How do I control my immaturity?

Question

My friends say I've been acting immature.
Some of my family members insist I stop acting immature.
Do my hormones control me being immature?
I've noticed when i try so hard to stop acting like a goof to "girl" people rather than "guy" people.

To guys.. I'm just another guy.
To girls... I'm just another nerd.

To friends... guys and girls...I'm just a goofball just to play around with them.

Should I be serious all the time despite my fact I need to joke around sometimes?
Because "girl" friends hate my "playing around" games.
And "guys" love to see me "crack another one".

How do i control this feeling?!

Some people are jokesters, and if that's who you are, that's fine. Perhaps the immaturity or the fact that girls don't like your jokes is because you make inappropriate ones or make them at inappropriate times. This is something that you'll learn with experience, especially since you seem to want to change. Just keep an eye out for cues from the people around you. Did everyone just stiffen up at one of your wisecracks? Did they all just stare at you? Then you probably said something you shouldn't have, or at a time you shouldn't. What kind of jokes do you make? Your friends may appreciate the potty humor, but a lot of older people and girls won't (but some will). Maybe you are being unintentionally mean to some. Try to make sure you aren't saying anything that could be misconstrued. If you wouldn't want to hear it said about yourself, then don't say it about someone else. Maybe, if you're having trouble figuring it out, you could ask one of your family members for help. Maybe one of your parents or older siblings will have some idea of what's up.

A lot of immaturity, I think, is being unable to pick up on social cues. I think, since you do want to be mature and to make people happy, that you will figure it all out. Again, just pay attention to the people around you, and take a second to think about whatever you want to say.

You need to learn to read other peoples body language, especially girls. If a girl gives a little half hearted giggle then you should probably stop what your doing becasue she is uncomfortable. Ignore the guys, because we will laugh at you just so we don't get laughed at. You should also consider if your attire (clothing) makes you look like a joke also. If you want to be mature then be it in all ways including how you walk, dress, personal hygiene, topics of converstaion etc. But whatever you do, do it comfortably or you will look like an even bigger goof.

Grow up....stop joking around so much. A joke every now and again is good but if a girl is giving hints to stop then maybe ease up a bit...of course guys are going to say crack another one because while you are getting laughed and called a goof they are taking the girl you wanted to be with.

Sounds like your young at heart...Grow up..who wants to be a goofball? If you don't act your age the name calling is just going to get worse..this is no laughing matter. You want people to admire you not ridicule you, maybe this is in your nature but you can control it..You always want to "be yourself", but you don't have to be a clown to do it....Do you think your calling may be a comedian. Well try expressing your humor in a more sophisticated way. I assume they think you are immature because you do silly or stupid things and make bad jokes. Remember, its sometimes hard to tell the difference between laughing with people and being laughed at.
