She's afraid she will become a lesbian.
Footnote: Harper Lee based her characters on people she knew and the town on Monroeville, AL. Atticus was based on her father, Dill was Truman Capote. There have been rumors for decades that Capote actually wrote the book and let his childhood friend Harper Lee submit it for publication for herself.

She is determined to make Jen Louise into a proper lady. Scout had grown up without a mother, and Aunt Alexandra didn't think that Calpurnia was a decent role model.

As I remember, the aunt was worried that Scout was not being exposed to ladylike things enough since the death of her mother. She could see that Scout was a tomboy and she wanted her to dress more like a girl and do girl things.

sorry i don't know the page numbers. but i do know the context of the reference. atticus finch was explaining to scout that mockingbirds do nothing but make music. they do no harm. that is why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird. If you remember where in the book that is... hope this helps!!! god bless

She's too much of a tomboy. Harper Lee, who wrote this book, and the story is autobiographical, is a lesbian.
