My sister threw her own baby shower. She had a little help from my mom and her mother-in-law. But if you don't know your friends well enough for them to throw you one than its okay to throw your own. It doesn't sound like anything that would go against the 'unwritten rules' of baby showers. So go ahead and throw your own! If you need help planning and picking things out you could call your mom or mother-in-law or call an old friend who'd be glad to help. Congratulations on the baby! I hope the baby shower turns out well.

Although baby shower etiquette has evolved over the years, it is still considered a no no to throw your own baby shower. If you would like a baby shower, you can throw out some hints to friends and hope they pick up on them.
If no one offers to throw you a baby shower, just have a baby welcoming party once the baby is born. Whether you have a baby shower or not, people usually still buy gifts in celebration of the baby to show they care.
Good Luck!

That would be very tacky. And like someone pointed out, can you imagine how awkward that would be on your coworkers and employees to feel pushed into that becuase their boss threw a shower. That isn;t fair to put them in that position. Showers are nice, yes, but if someone doesn't throw one it isn't the end of the world if you don;t have one and it still is your responsibility to buy the necessary things your baby will need becuase you are the parent.

Yeah...you shouldn't give yourselves a baby shower.
What you can do is after the baby is born you can have a "come meet the baby party".

Only if you expect people to bring gifts. Otherwise, wait and have a christening celebration.
