I have a bump on my left breast. I just got off my period and I was sure that's why I had a bump there. When should I expect this bump to go away? How long should I wait to go to the doctor if it doesn't go away? thanks

Hi. I am a nurse AND in the mist of breast cancer myself. You need to go to the ob/gyn right away! It is normal to get SWOLLEN GLANDS during your period NOT BUMPS! I would make an appointment asap just to be safe. There are many city agencies that will pay for your mammogram if that is necessary. This is not something you fool around with or wait on. Better to be safe than sorry. You can email if you have any other questions. Good Luck!

Well I have no idea how old you are, but my mom has a lump on her breast. Which could be cancerous. Hopefully not. I read somewhere that about 10% of women will have some kind of lump on their breast, and of them 80% will be fine and have nothign to worry about. I think those were the numbers. But hey I'm no doctor. And you can never be too safe, I would get it checked out.

Anytime you have an unusual lump or bump on your breast you should get it checked out by your doctor. Make an appoinment asap. The best way to ease body and mind is to make sure. Good luck.

That same thing happened to me...and it went away about a week after my period ended.

But....I actually went to the doctor and got checked out, just to be safe. It was actually very quick. I made an appointment the same day I noticed the lump, and in 24 hours I was told it was nothing to worry about.

Always better to go to the doctor....if anything, it will ease your mind. :-)

Go ahead and make an appointment. Sometimes it takes a while to get one. You could have a mammary gland swollen too. Which is common around period time. But I would definitely have it checked.
