A book called Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. A surprisingly funny book about human cadavers.

Asylums and The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life are classics is sociology. You might also want to try the more recent Bowling Alone, by Robert D. Putnam.

In the nature category, I highly recommend "A Sand County Almanac" by Aldo Leopold. It is a classic.
