He's been really distant and depressed lately, and just today I got an e-mail from him telling me about how much he hates me, himself, and the world. I am so freaked out. I honestly think he may be suicidal. Please, help me! Give me advice; what should I do to help him? As I said, this could not be more important. I really don't want to lose him.

I would call him, but I don't know his number. My friend has it, and she isn't home. I've been e-mailing him every few hours, but I get no replies.

Tell them about your friend. They may be able to get a phone trace if he actually threatened to commit suicide ever. They can give you better advice than anyone untrained also. Good Luck, we'll be praying for you both.

This is nothing to just sit on. You need to tell someone. Print out the e-mails that he wrote and take them to your parents, his parents or even the police. Threatening suicide is not something that normal people do. Your friend needs help.

has he done this sort of thing in the past ?
sometimes people say things to get a reaction and for you to do what they want you to do.
if you think he is serious than the best thing is to try get his number and just talk to him and get him to tell you what the problem is, he might just be under pressure at the moment.
if you cant help him than you need to get him to phone a suicide help line were people are trained to help him.

just tel him that ur sry for wutever u did to him...don't take the 'everything is gonna b ok' route. that'll haveterrible resluts. ask him if u can come over. bring a movie (not funy, that'll make him mad). wenit's over, just ask him wuts goin on, and if u guys could talk aabout it. if not then tell him u love him with all ur heart (like as friends) and leave. tell him u'll call him later.

I suggest you talk to your friends parents to see if they see any changes in his attitude, tell them what he said and that you are really worried about him. Suggest thet he speak to a professional to find out what is going wrong with his life. He sounds like he really does need help, and you sound like a good caring friend.
