If you live in the United States, Thanksgiving is approaching. I would suggest contacting a homeless persons shelter and volunteer for their Thanksgiving Day dinner.
If you specifically meant gay community, find out if your area has a gay suicide hotline or HIV/AIDS group you could volunteer for.

Look around. There's thousands of organizations out there trying to make the world a better place and they're always in need of people.

there are so many areas and people that need help...just ask around...they won't be hard to find....Just try to pick one that you are really interested/passionate in/about.
