The Democrats will push for the amnesty bill but not for 25 million votes, but for the ability to look as if they are more compassionate in order to maintain power and possible control the White House and both Houses of Congress for some considerable time, the exact thing they said was disasterous when the Republicans held power like that since 2000.

If you talking about amnesty for illegal aliens, I'd say that this is a complex and controversial matter that is not going to be passed easily with the slim majority the Democrats have- especially considering the current occupant of the White House is a Republican. Whatever is done will be a compromise that will probably not completely satisfy either the pros or the antis.

I think you need to read the definition of the word 'amnesty.' It does not mean 'citizenship,' it only means that we will take people who are here illegally NOW and put them in a guest worker program rather than arresting them and sending them home.

Documented non-citizens in guest worker programs do not get to vote.

So I don't think we'll be seeing 25 million new voters any time soon.

"Now that the Democrats control both houses?"

Actually it is "Now that the Democrats control both the House and the Senate?" The Senate is not a House. American Government 101.

To answer the question with the first thought in my mind: We will:

a) Live in paradise and learn to speak Arabic;

b) Quickly recall our troops from Iraq and apologize to all Arabs;

c) Automatically downgrade the sentences of all felons currently incarcerated.

d) Extend welfare and food stamps to all who are too lazy to work;

e) Encourage the colonization of the United States by those folks from south of the border;

f) Create a national holiday on the 5th of May;

g) Abolish English as the official language of the USA, because it discriminates against the rights of foreigners.

h) All of the above.

Well Bush wanted some kind of program like a guest worker program but the Repubs opposed it. Bush didn't like the idea of the wall either. The dems will push for amnesty and Bush will concur.

the amnesty thing may be one of the only things Bush and the Dems can agree on.

i don't like the idea of blanket amnesty for people who enter the US illegally. i think they should stand in line like any other legal immigrant.

I am democrat and I hope not, I do not agree that amnesty is the way to go, if these people want to be here they should come legally or not at all.

Hiltlary Clinton supported Amnesty too. Then didn't, then did again when the hispanics in her districts raised hell with her. Now the Dem's are going to block the border fence. I say we annex Mexico and make it ours.

If not then where will 12 million people go? Those who sing the song of illegal vs legal, how about we apply the same current ridiculous immigration rules to those caucasians forefathers who came from Europe. If they fail to qualify then retroactively revoke the citizenship of all european caucasians and their offsprings who are here and giving lectures on immigration rules. Then it will be the fair deal. These hard working people came here to earn a living and a better life for their families just like your ancestors came here. Their are not a burden on society but actually contributing to the system with their hard work. We should be rather thankful to them instead of waving confederation flags!
