Cheating on someone, breaking a heart, hurting someone's feelings, or deceiving them can hurt more than a physical assault sometimes. Damage is damage and it affects society. Hurt people ... hurt people. Would there be a way to enforce punishment for cheaters? I know the saying all is fair in love and war, but even war has the Geneva act.

This is more a rhetorical question. I don't expect there to actually be laws passed. I'm just saying that it is so free to hurt someone. 75% of world may have to be locked up to enforce it, but remember, 75% of everyone in prison is already there for a reason related to the opposite sex.

Firstly love is not law nor can be governed by law, love is somebody that calls you when they dont have to. We all have a reality on what "we think" love should "look" like and the same with life, however both do not "look" a particular way and we think they should "look" "our way". The world is full of upset people attached to the world running "their way" also, instead of learning to be ok with the way it is, when they actually shift to this reality they will find that the world shifts around them.
Going back to "love" , who told you it should look a particular way? i.e your way? is it any wonder the world is full of disillusioned virgins attached to their Walt Disney fairy story coming true, then end up in lonelyness attached to their subconsciouss lists of what Mr Right or their Fairy Princess "should "look" like fantasy".
Since when was another person responsible for breaking your fantasty? lets face it, it, was exclusive to you, when you chose to think it would look your way. Trouble is you got to attached and tried to manipulate it to fit your "list" of pictures and now you wonder why your alone.
The best way to destroy relationship is be attached to being right, given that you do nothing with righteoussness except destroy realtionship, there is no formula more successful.
Nobody is responsible for your unfulfilled expectations except yourself, equally so for your thwarted intentions or the conversations you never completed, resulting in you causing your own upset and living in a jungle of incompletions.
Women choose men, if you think they don't (macho ego) try sleeping with a woman without their permission ( it's called rape), men have second choice. Women will leave a man for one of three reasons 1. Hes no good in bed, 2. He's a bad provider or 3. He doesnt stimulate her mentally, if you don't believe me ask any woman, and there are more reasons also.
Secondly, if your upset, clearly your abdicating responsibility for you part in it, what did you do to deliberatly sabotage it? at some point you chose to check out spiritually and remain in it physically until there were enough reasons and jusifications to invalidate it,then either leave or drive her away.
So stop playing the wounded wimp, women cant stand that because their archtypical reality is built on their dads like yours is on your mums for what you want from a partner. whom were biggerer, betterer, cleverer, smarterer, nicer, prettier, romaticure, ect ect and you chose yours as she did hers from those qualities if they were there or not.
Who told you love was supposed to last forever anyway? (Walt Disney?) what if once we got all the growth we could we moved on? If you come from this condition and refer to the above you may actually have a chance of having a successful realtionship.
You cannot have anybody or anyone from a condition of desperation as desperation is needy and nobody wants needy.
So ask yourself what was your part in it! and stop blaming others for your interpretation of what they said or did when you clearly set yourself up with the way you thought it should "look".
Maybe now your starting to get the meaning of the word "Responsibility"
Of course it was just another object lesson to what you dont want in your life, so get the lesson and move on, and if you don't you'll just get the lesson until you get the lesson
Life is pain and pain is not letting go and moving with the transition of what is!
Enjoy, its all a game anyway and its not about winning it either it's about playing it!
P.s I hope this gives you a little more clarity in terms of who your being in relationships!
P.P.s Nobody controls anybodys life or has a contact on it, this is validated by divorce, a marriage is a contract of no choice to be in the realtionship and hence the mind rebels everytime (built on religious dogma and fairy story fantasy of happily ever after)
Heres some tips for a succesfful relationship.
Groundrules:- Stated before the sexual realtionship commences so that everyones clear, before the lights come on.
1. Dont lie to me
2. Update me
3. if you want to sleep with somebody else , let me know in advance to keep the integrity of the realtionship.
4. You cant have a "successful realtionship that has no "context" to live into bigger than the realtionship other wise it implodes and becomes personaly orientated..

Well, cheating on a spouse -- known, of course, as adultery -- is a crime in the US military.
As for the rest ... well, that's life. Besides, very few people actually MEAN to break others' hearts or hurt their feelings, so the question of INTENT would have to be explored.
There are enough people in jail already. If heart-breaking and feelings-hurting were crimes, there'd be more people in jail than not in jail ... !

They'd have to lock up about 75% of the world population to enforce that!

Trust me, you don't want a society where it controls the choices that are made like that.
Just be happy that people are free to do what they want to do, and stop crying about it so much.

Your question offends and hurts my feelings. I will now notify the authorities and have you arrested. Are you serious about this?
