i have two molly fish i want them to mate! i have a dalmatian lyretail molly and never folds it anal fin and pelvic fin does that mean its a male or a female? i also have a platinum molly it has its pelvic and anal fin like a fan is that a male or a molly? thank you very much! and how long til they mate? what would the fry look like? Thank You again

Males have a long, pointed fin, while the female has a fan shaped fin... also if you want to see if ones female and ones male, when they swim by eachother, watch them.. the male will actually lift up the anal fin(the one w/ the long pointed fin) up to the female..if they do that, and they have different fins, then they will probably breed..

You should also be able to tell the difference by looking at the anal fin. It is usually much smaller and more elongated on males.

The easiest way is, when you see the molly very near to glass just knock politly on glass and ask him / her.
