I donot know how young you are. But I am a senior person.

If the young ones have such feelings about life and the living what about the seniors?

After a wonderful run in life , with travel and excitement , I am relatively quiet but , still, I donot want to allow grass to grow under my feet. The same question you raise haunts many and I am no exception. I do a few small plans.

I DONOT want predictability in my routine. If I feel that today looks / feels the same way as yesterday and if I think that tomorrow is going to be the same as today, I feel I am going to be sad. Hence , I plan slightly different schedule for the next day.

I could visit an orphanage, I could plan a hike somewhere. I could visit a cancer ward. I could go to a music concert... anything. That takes me to an enthusiatic point to look forward to.

Once a month I am off for 3 days , somewhere. Though I can afford a comfortable travel and stay I take the dificult ( but safe) route. Travel by train. bus . Stay in some new place and share the time with strangers .

I come back rejuvenated, ready to feel contented.

Simply stated, to bring back the interest in life it is in our hands. Remove the predictability. Somehow.

Do you think that an interesting life just happens to people who have them? Get off your butt off the couch and volunteer your time at the animal shelter or hospital or soup kitchen or local grade school or senior center. See what other people's lives are like, and realize that they would love to be able to afford to be bored.

Once you've done that, get out there and enjoy life! Get a new hobby, travel someplace where you've never been, try a different pizza joint, drink a brand of beer that you've never tried before, ride your bike down a road that you've gone past a hundred times but never traveled, take a kid to the park to fly a kite or go sledding or to the zoo or just out for an ice cream cone, learn to do an eskimo roll in a kayak, read a book by an author you've never heard of,

There are literally and truly thousands of things to do wherever you are. All you have to do is take off the blinders you yourself put on, kickstart your imagination, blow the cobwebs out of the corners of your mind, and GO!

Or you can sit in front of your computer and mope that "there's never anything to do". It's your choice.

Geez, me too...life always has spontaneity for me, and it drives me absolutely insane. I often wish I could be in someone else's shoes that has a constantly quiet life. Mine is consistently crazy as I have three boys who are all teens. One is bipolar and two are adhd. I know I am hyper, but I work really hard and always made good grades and stayed out of trouble. These guys seem to just want to get in trouble. So, I guess the other side always looks better, huh? Or would you rather trade places with me?

Wait, I read about this one man who said he thought he had a whiny child until he found out that his son had bone cancer and was dying and that's why he whined because he hurt literally so bad. The man said he felt so emotionally bad for thinking so ill of his son.

So, I suppose we ought to be happy with our life. I mean think ... we were born in one of the most admired and envied places in the world. There are people dying all over the world because of war, famine and disease, but we complain because our kids fight over stupid things. We should thank heaven that our problems are not more than they are. You see...my grandmother gave that gift to me...to see the world in the happiest way I can no matter how bad I have it. Of course getting some drugs from the doctor helps, too.

Sometime I too feel the same but not in a way, you are describing for yourself. It is natural to feel so once in a while but that does not mean you should say that you have lost interest in life. It sounds as if you are suffering from depression. This situation occurs only because of your own living style. You want something new everyday and get bored of the newly discovered thing, very soon. Try to stick to one thing and try to love and enjoy that thing.

Everybody's life is different. Even if we get a chance to be in another person's life as that other person whom we think has a really wonderful, colourful life, it can still turn out the same way as we ealier felt...b'cas ATTITUDE is what makes one's life what it is!

Its easy to say that we are living a boring life... but it sure is much better than having to struggle hard to live everyday. And not to forget that there is always someone somewhere in this world suffering worse than we do!

Change your attitude towards it. Life is what you make. Its your life and making it intresting or boring is in your hands!

Yer I find the young life annoying Were suppose to enjoy ourselves and do as much as we can when were young yet as soon as were old enough to do things got ourselves (without parents) we get heaps of homework and a tonne of pressure on GCSE's that are going to effect the rest of our lives at only the age of 16 and then we get told time and time again that if we don't do college or uni were going to have crap lives

Yep most people do have repetitive lives. It can be fun. There's a new invention called the weekend! Use it! Ha ha seriously go out and just bungee jump or something. Trust me it's the best thrill and it'll give you a high for about three days.

I like to go to a casino and lose some money for a day or two it always cheers me up even if i lose all my money :))))))))) GL

You need to jolt yourself into a new reality to awaken your consciousness so you are no longer in a rut, squandering your time on earth.

I suggest volunteering to teach people to read, to tutor students,
to help handicapped, --- ANYTHING where you would be helping
others. It would be directing your attention outside of yourself,
and you would benefit from such activities.

Storm your senses.

Blast music into your ears - turn on classical, jazz, hip-hop--
whatever would jolt you back into awareness.

Change your patterns. Don't drive the same way to work
every day. Try parking at the far ends of parking lots, and
walking more.

Try walking backwards. Do silly things. Rake a pile of
leaves and jump in them. Go barefoot across the grass.

Jump in a lake. Go to church and sing your lungs out.
Join a choir.

Jolt your senses. Get a massage. Go to a sauna bath.
Try some intense new sports - snow skiing, intense running,
racquetball.

It sounds like you are unchallenged.

Challenge yourself. Dare yourself to take risks.

It sounds like you don't have goals or aspirations.

Make some lists of goals and things you want to
experience.

Then one by one, make them a reality.

Have you ever wanted to go ballooning? Sky diving?
Do it!

Have you ever wanted to write a letter to a lost love?

Do it!

Have you ever wanted to wear a pink shirt? Do it!

Buy a funny hat. Do things that are out-of-the-ordinary
for you.

Start being spontaneous. Like vary your meals.
Don't eat the same foods. Force yourself to eat
all new foods one week.

Force yourself to do things differently.

Try sleeping on the floor on a blanket one night.
Or outside on the porch by moonlight.

Get a hammock - hammock time is very good for the
soul - the swaying--like being back in the womb!

Practice chanting.

Ommmm or whatever.

It stimulates your ears and vocal chords.

Jump up and down and do jumping jacks.

Run in place.

Yodel.

Get a punching bag and punch it.

Or punch pillows.

Try screaming once in awhile.

Go out and howl at the moon.

It's okay to be silly sometimes. To become child like again.

We lose that, and then we become old.

So go out and make yourself a big chocolate ice cream
dish with syrup. And eat every bite and relish it.

Or go and buy a bicycle and start riding it. Ride your bike
to work.

Get a backpack and start hiking trails.

Try joining a social group where you'd meet entirely different
people from yourself.

Like imagine this:

Say you were a very quiet person.
Join the Toastmasters locally and learn public speaking!

It is only when we force ourselves to move out of our
comfort zones, and only when we take risks and challenge
ourselves, that we are able to stay interested in life.

For if this is not done, we stagnate and die.
