I felt I was the only one on this earth that the miracle of birth happened too. Forgot 23 hours of labour pain in a moment. The feeling was the most incredible experience of my life.

After the initial joy of being able to finally see and touch this tiny "being" that had been a constant part of my life for 9 months, I felt a kind of awe at how different my life was going to be from then on. I couldn't wait to see her walk, what her first word would be (it was "hungry", by the way), how well she would do in school (I'm a teacher), how she would deal with her first heartbreak (dealt with that just last week, she's 14 now and broke up with her "first love") It's like a part of your brain gets re-wired to include a whole new part. Everything you used to think was important seems to fade and you wonder why you even considered that part of your life even worth thinking about.

Though I am not eligible to answer this question because I am still a bachelor......but after reading those lovely and affectionate experiences from those equally lovely people, I think I must share with all of them (including the asker) what kind of joy and elation I had enjoyed when my cousin-sister gave birth to a gorgeous, rose-petal like baby. My sister was crying a lot when she was in labor room....me too as that was my first experience to see her in crying condition....but when it was over, and the nurse allowed the family members in......I was fourth or fifth in the lane, and the moment my sister saw me....she joyfully screamed at me..."Hey Raj.....you become "Mamajee".....(in our language is means "Maternal Uncle")......Well.....in your words "I were on top of the world..."

I was traumatized that I didn't get to watch my daughter come out. After being with my wife for 47 hours of labor we ended up with a C-section. I was in the OR, but it happened so quick and I wanted to watch her come out. For months I had this irrational idea that somehow someone switched babies since I didn't see it for myself.

She is now almost 5 and is the love of my life. She is such a daddy's girl. Now the irrational thoughts are gone and I know she is mine. She looks like me and has mannerisms like me.

I just looked at my one and only child (a girl) and said, "thank you God" she's beautiful! That was almost 32 years ago, and I still thank him for putting this wonderful, loving, beautiful person in my life for us to love each other for as long as we are here!
Yeah howdy! We are so close, and we share so much life & love, it's great! I can only "imagine" how my Mother must have felt having 15 children! (I'm serious) Maybe that's why I was only blessed with one! hahaha! I love you Mom...where ever you are.

Did you or someone close just have a baby? I was really glad the pain was over. Then, when I was all stitched up and cleaned up and my baby was cleaned up, they put him on my belly. He was beautiful. I wouldn't say pain is worth it, but it sure puts things into perspective. Sometimes you have to work really hard for the best things in life.

I wa asking myself if that being was the one moving inside my womb.

I checked if he has complete fingers, ears.

I checked his skin, mouth and his genitalia.

It was a great moment!
