you claim to be against racism and constantly talk about how ugly and awful it is and how it's caused by lack of education and ignorance. my question is what do you think about these actual lyrics from black rappers?

“Kill the white people; we gonna make them hurt; kill the white people; but buy my record first"

“****** in the church say kill whitey all night long. . . . the white man is the devil. the CRIPS and Bloods are soldiers I’m recruiting with no dispute; drive-by shooting on this white genetic mutant. let’s go and kill some rednecks."

“A fight, a fight, a ****** and a white, if the ****** don’t win then we all jump in. smoking all America’s white boys”

"I say kill whitey all nightey long. I stabbed a ******* Jew with a steeple. . I would kill a cracker for nothing, just for the **** of it"

“Won’t be satisfied until the devils.I see them all dead.my brother is sending me more guns from down South pale face.

“He prays on old white ladies that drive the Mercedes"

to mac momma,

“He prays on old white ladies [who] drive the Mercedes with the windows cracked. . . . you should’ve heard the ***** screaming. . . . sticking guns in crackers’ mouths. . . . the cops can’t stop it. . . . remember 4-29-92, come on; Florence and Normandy coming to a corner near you, cracker"

thatr's the rest of those lyrics. i just ran out of room.

and as far as "400 years" does that give blacks the right to go around murdering whites??

if you know history, it was whites who fought in a war to defeat the nazis. name one black who opposes those lyrics. ONE!!!

Well, the problem happens when you start talking to people as groups rather than individuals. The singers of these lyrics do not represent "The Black Race" as a whole. Neither is there some monolithic group of "Liberals" who are all the same and all believe the same thing. Condemning lyrics you don't believe in makes sense, but you can't take that as having some kind of global implications for race relations. It's unfortunately a lot more complicated than that. The same way the rap singers are generalizing about "America's white boys."

Hmmm, I'm not a liberal, but lets take a look at it IN CONTEXT.

First off, you have no references or any of the lyrics surrounding those lyrics, so we really don't know what is being said. Suppose I said, "He prEys on old white ladies that drive the Mercedes, and I think that's bad." See, out of context.

Secondly, look at the KKK and the Nazis and institutionalized racism in the U.S. (African Americans make up 12 - 14 % of the population, but hold less than 1% of Fortune 500 jobs and around 5% of elected positions). That would make ME angry. We can also throw in 400 years of slavery, but I have the feeling you want to forget all about that.

Racism IS wrong, on both sides. But freedom of speech is precious and, although I might not agree with the speaker, I will defend to the DEATH their right to say it.

I don't like these lyrics, but I don't like a lot of things. I also don't like Christianity, like the user above wrote. However, my not liking Christianity does not preclude my not liking these rap lyrics or rap itself. I also don't like people who shout "racism" where it's inappropriate, like the user above me who asserted that "institutionalized racism" accounts for the "fact" that "less than 1% of fortune 500 companies are run by Aftican Americans". If this figure is true, one cannot infer "institutionalized racism" from these statistics. Nor does it say that 99% of these are owned by whites. Things like this rub me a little more raw than rap lyrics, maybe your question should be redirected to an area that is pertinent to society, such as why a significant number of African Americans feel that racism is inherent and reverse racism, such as affirmative action, is necessary to foster a society of "social equality".

Holler back at me.

Kisses,

Jessica

We are against racism and how ugly it is. These lyrics are obviously a form of racism, and yes they are ugly and disgusting, and Yes, the people who wrote this are probably very uneducated.

Racism isn't limited to whites hating blacks.
