There are some over-the-counter medicines that you can take that shouldn't harm the baby. I'm surprised your doctor didn't give you a list of them. My doctor did when I went to my first doctor appt.. I hope this helps.
Cold and Allergies:
Ayr or Ocean (saline drops/spray):
Drops: 2 to 4 drops in each nostril every 2 hours as needed.
Spray: 2 squirts in each nostril as needed.
Sudafed:
30mg, 1 to 2 tablets no more than three times a day. This is best if only used for a short period of time (1-3 days).
Actifed: 1 tablet no more than every 4-6 hours.
Chlor-Trimeton: 1 tablet no more than every 4-6 hours. Long-acting tablets can be taken 1 tablet no than every 12 hours.
Benadryl: 25 mg, 1 to 2 tablets no more than every 4-6 hours.
Do not take Dimetapp or products with Propanolamine, read the label.
Cough:
Robitussin: 2 teaspoons no more than every 4 hours. This product does have a small amount of alcohol in it.
Robitussin-DM: 2 teaspoons no more than every 4 hours. Contains no alcohol.
If none of these work talk to your doctor on monday.

Don't worry one bit. You can take some tylenol if you think it will help but other than that you'll just have to wait it out. The most important thing is to stay hydrated. If you start vomiting and can't keep anything down that's when you need to go to the hospital for fluids. Even then baby will be fine if you get treated. Hope you feel better soon!

Yes, people have gotten sick while pregnant. I had one of the worst colds of my life while I was pregnant. I hope it's not the flu, but since you're pregnant, maybe you should play it safe and go to a walk-in clinic that's open all the time. If you spike a fever, place a call to your doctor through the answering service. He'll tell you what to do.

It's ok that you're getting sick - instead of waiting until Monday, go to the nearest Pharmacy, tell them your symptoms and that you're pregnant, and they can get you some over the counter meds to help your symptoms now - pharmacists can look up any meds that have an impact on pregnancy - that's why they're there (and go to college for 5 years).

Yes people get sick while pregnant. You just have to be careful about what you take or use to ease the discomfort.
I got a HORRIBLE stomach virus while i was pregnant with my 3rd daughter. I did call the dr but he said there was nothing they could really do for it ... Call your Dr if you are concerned.

Yes it is perfectly OK to get sick when your pregnant. While you will be twice as miserable, because medications are limited while you are pregnant. I would not suggest taking anything over the counter until you see your Dr. he will tell your the proper medication and usage to take while you are pregnant, until then get plenty of rest and take in plenty of fluids. Take care of you!
P.S. The baby is going to be just FINE!

You can take tylenol for the cold/pain and chloroseptic for the sore throat. Be careful when you're pregnant. It will affect the baby and make you feel even worser than before.

I am no doctor and i'm a guy...but all i can say is....for something concerning your pregnancy and your baby you should visit a doctor as soon as you can. I have heard of women feeling sick (and then they get all pissed off) during pregnancy. Dont take my word for it, i'm NOT a doctor. Hopefully a doctor will answer your question, but that might not happen, since ythey dont have your insurance info and hence can't charge you :P. Goodluck with it

Yes its normal. Dont worry. It would be nice if we didnt get sick when pregnant, but that just isnt how it works, and it wont hurt the baby . The doctor will tell you what you can take for it.
