They started out as real and now the "the vast majority of lucky rabbits' feet on the market are fake".

Yes they are. They kill the rabbit then cut it's back foot off. It's very sad.

I don't think so because as sick as this sounds I tried to break it once (not to purposely break it, but I was little) and it didn't break. I think it's made out of something.
