If they are not interested enough to contact me, they can go to hell.

Avoid calling. Let them call you. You may be anxious but remember, if they want you, they'll call you. Keep yourself busy. If you haven't heard in a couple of weeks, then call under the guise of letting them know you are still "very much interested in the position." Don't ask if a "final decision has been made." That can be irritating to an employer especially if they are still trying to evaluate which candidate is the best for the position.

I would not call and act like someone else. Most people and businesses have caller id. If you haven't sent them a follow up letter yet you should do that. Briefly stating that you appreciate the opportunity that you had to meet with them re guarding the ____ position and that you look forward to hearing from them should you be considered further for the position. If in fact they find you are not what they are looking for at this time you hope that they will keep you in mind should another opportunity as you would be very interested in working for such a promising and growing business.
If you don't hear anything after that I would not bother them any further.
Hope this helps.

maybe start with, You mentioned in the interview that you hoping to have made a decision by early yesterday and i was wondering how it was going?
If they answer that a decision is still pending, ask when you can expect a decision, thank them for their time, and ask if there is anything you can do to help in the decision making process

start with after the interview decide if the person would appreciate having every new applicant hounding him or her after weeks of doing countless interviews
if this company really likes they will call
now it is up to you......
collect your thoughts put them on paper prepare your self mentally and phycially walk in head high shoulders back be your self and do the best you can but do not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cry about all your little problems they do not care
so my point is your interview is your time to shine
not some phone call

Exactly what you said, "I'm calling to see if a final decision was made on who was picked for this job." Best of luck.

I've never called after an interview to see if the position was filled. They will call you if they want you.

I believe you should not call them...Give them a chance to call you.
This can be perceived as being too aggressive.
If a decision has been made and you were not selected they may send you a letter informing you of that.
If you have not heard back from them in a while they may have already made their decision.
God Bless.....

Ask them for a time frame when they expect to have the hire/no-hire decision made.

You don't call. Specifically if during the interview you are told they will contact you. Call only if it was requested you do so.

Or you could randomly call and say I was calling to see if you have any opening in the _____ department, or has the postion for ____ been filled.
