I the city where I live it's mostly factory jobs. I am afraid that because of the climate of my husbands work he could be force out of work and into a buyout. I want to find a trade that would be very flexible, as I am a stay at home mom, so I can work part time with the possiblity, or probability that I will go full time with in the next two years... Is Medical Transcription a good job that pays decently? Would I be able to find a job easily?

I'm a medical transcriptionist and I work at home. Yes: If you are qualified and talented you are pretty well assured of good employment in this field-- HOWEVER just like with any good job it takes awhile to build up enough experience and knowhow to be able to make the really good money. If you start taking courses in medical transcription right now then in a couple of years you will (with some luck) be able to become employed in the industry. Work on your language and typing skills as much as you can.

Don't give up on other endeavors that can net you some cash. Working part-time at a fast food restaurant or store may not sound like the most fun thing in the world but it's something you can count on. With medical transcription the work load tends to fluctuate-- most of the time you will not make hourly pay, but be paid by production.

I hope this was helpful! Please feel free to message me if you would like some more advice.

No No a thousand times no. I work in the medical field and more and more of medical transcribing are being sent to India. I send the report on the phone line and have it back by computer. The cost is low and the turn around time is 24 - 72 hours. We outsourced this several years ago and we do not have the problems when we were having it done here.
