Many teenage girls hide their pregnancy until well into the second or even third trimester, and when their parents do finally find out, some of them pressure their daughters to abort (not that pressure from one's parents is an acceptable excuse for killing a child!). Some women also abort their babies late in the pregnancy when they discover that the child has health problems. 90% of babies with Down Syndrome are aborted in America. It's very sad that parents would rather kill their own child than have a so-called "imperfect" baby. All of us are imperfect. That doesn't mean anyone has the right to kill us. Being sick is not a crime worthy of death.
It's important for people to understand that a baby actually has all her organs at just 8 weeks after conception and may also be able to feel pain at that point. She can also suck her thumb and will pull her hand away from a needle prick. At just 3 weeks after conception, before many women even know they are pregnant, the baby's heart is already beating. Every abortion kills an innocent human being and every abortion is wrong. I am glad to hear that you are totally against it!

By the way, Lunachick is wrong. Abortion IS legal throughout all nine months of pregnancy for any reason. She needs to read Doe v. Bolton, a Supreme Court decision handed down on the same day as Roe v. Wade. Roe v. Wade said that abortions after the point of viability are only legal for "health" reasons, but Doe v. Bolton DEFINED health as "all factors—physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the women’s age—relevant to the well-being of the patient." Therefore, if a woman is not "emotionally" ready for a baby, if she already has a large family, or if she is young or old, these are all considered "health" factors and she can abort her baby up until the point the baby is born. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute (the pro-abortion research arm of Planned Parenthood), there are 156,000 second and third trimester abortions every year in this country.

I think you are being VERY narrow minded.
Choosing to have an abortion at a late stage in the pregnancy might simply be because it is only late on in the pregnancy that the woman becomes aware!!!!!!!
I hope you never ever have the misfortune of having to make such a difficult decision, but perhaps you have been blessed with the luck not to have to worry about giving a child a good start in life, or being in a financial position where starting a family is actually a selfish decision rather than selfless.
When a woman-whatever her age has to undergo an abortion at what ever stage in her pregnancy she is making the best of a difficult situation. She has to take into consideration the life she is leading, the life of her partner/the father of the unborn and the feelings of her loved ones.
I know of no women who have chosen abprtion as the easy option, rather they are saving another unwanted child from entering into this world under a cloud of difficulty.
Small minded people like you actually make me sick.
Women have been terminating pregnancies since women have been pregnant.
Do you think Abortions were invented by Western Doctors in the 1960s?
Put yourself into the shoes of a woman who might be faced with a pregnancy that is unplanned and who doesn't have your luck in life. I also consider these women to be making a responsible choice.

That doesn't really happen as often as you're probably thinking that it does. Sometimes it is discovered later on in the pregnancy that the birth of the fetus may be harmful or fatal to it or to the mother. That is actually the only circumstance in which it is legal to get an abortion after 4 months of pregnancy. Look up Roe v. Wade and educate yourself before you start asking sensitive questions like this.

I agree that late term abortions shouldn't be allowed, but some women must make a decision because of risk to the fetus or themselves(however I personally would risk my life in that case), severe birth defects, and some women just don't know that they are pregnant. Women who have been raped or sexually abused sometimes try to ignore the fact that they are pregnant(due to trauma) and by the time that they come to grip with the fact that they are pregnant they are usually in the second trimester. I still do not condone the fact that they are getting late term abortions, but some women are faced with a difficult decision due to medical causes and some women are in denial due to the physical trauma of how they became pregnant.

I'm with you too, 100% AGAINST abortions, for any reason. I don't understand why either, but I don't understand why anyone would get one to begin with. I got pregnant very young, and my family gave me the choice. But I knew that I could never live with myself, I was the one who made the decision to have sex, and I needed to step up to the plate and be a good mom, and deal with the repercussions of my choice. I'm not saying I have always made the right choices being a mom, no one is perfect. But i have never had any regret keeping her. I think people that can get late term abortions don't have much regard for human life. Hopefully someday, they will be outlawed.

I am not against abortion, but against late abortions. I guess sometimes they can't make up their mind of whether they should keep the child. In certain cases, they still hope for a miracle to happen so they can keep the child even though they can't.

my friend in ninth grade(we were 15) didnt know she was pregnant until she was really late (over 4 months along) and her parents made her get an abortion. they were "christians" and didnt want to be embarassed by her and didnt want to raise her child.she is still really sad about it and and thinks about what it would be like to have a child.
her parents had to pay and extra thousand dollars or so for the doctor to do it since she was so far along.

The only way I would say is if the baby died....
But that would be it....my opinion, any form of abortion is wrong. Except like i said if the baby was dead, or something was really bad wrong with it like trisomy 13 or something.
