and if the Jedi wanted to hide Luke and Leia from the Emperor than why did they keep Luke's last name Skywalker and not Lars like his uncle? You would think if they wanted to hide him, they would have changed his last name. Leia's name got changed to Organa when she was adopted by the Organa's.

1) The first Death Star didn't take 20 years to build. They had planned it for 20 years.
2) The second Death Star wasn't complete when it was blown up.

2. They never thought he would return to Tatooine and that decision was left up to Owen and Beru
3. Leia was not adopted . She was raised by them as if she was their natural born daughter. Leia never knew she was not their child unlike Luke. If she had then the conversation at the end of Episode 6 would have been way wrong. She said she knew her mother but she died when she was young. She had to have been talking about Bale's wife.

That one is kinda hard to explain, but you know how they love to alter timelines for movies. The books explain everything a lot better, especially how all of a sudden Luke went from knowing hardly anything about the force with Yoda to becoming a great Jedhi master.

The 2nd death star was being built the same time as the first. The first one took so long because he was keeping it hidden. Just the way it was written. Luke wasn't adopted, and I quess they knew Anakin wouldn't ever return to his slave days. Plus, they thought he was dead at the time.
