I'd recommend if you are that heavy then you switch to menstrual cups, they can hold up to 1 oz of menstrual flow (women normally only bleed between 2 to 4 ounces of menstrual flow per cycle) so they hold a lot more menstrual flow than tampons.
Menstrual cups can be left in for up to 12 hours safely and without any leaking, they can also be used before your period, used on light days, can be worn for sports like swimming, can be worn to bed at night – unlike tampons they are hygienic so do not increase your risk of TSS, vaginal infections, vaginal splitting, irritation, etc. Menstrual cups are also cheaper, more convenient, body-positive and environmentally friendly.
I used to have to wear the most absorbent tampons and pads when I was younger, I still used to have to change them every hour, but now I use a menstrual cup, a hell of a lot less hassle.

Tampons only absorb so much, you know? During the first two days of my period, I go through a super tampon and a pad every hour. Then the next four days, it's a light trickle. But, really, they do leak when they saturated, and sometimes even super plus tampons just aren't absorbent enough.
I know it's only going to get worse, too. All of the women in my family have had hysterectomies due to severe bleeding.

First of all if it is leaking you need to think about a few things.
Number one perhaps you need a tampon designed for a heavier flow. So go up a size. Also you may not be changing them regularly enough. Change them about every 4 hrs, or more if you have a very heavy flow. Also experiment with a diff brand tampon. Some of the cheaper ones do leak more, a diff brand may be worth investing in.
Also, to minimize bulk....try a panty liner instead of a pad. They also have diff sizes, and come in scented or unscented. You can even get them if you wear thongs! They have special ones made just for those type of undies!
Goodluck to you!

a million) I favor pads, all the way! the purely way i exploit tampons is that if there is something extremely interesting happening contained in the water... like the waterslides or interesting in a pool. 2) after I even ought to apply tampons, i exploit the Tampax Lites, and Tampax Compak Pearl Regulars. It extremely relies upon on bypass, and how i think. 3) i appreciate the continually Infinity common pads. They artwork tremendous! I also use the continually Infinity in one day pads, because I difficulty about leakage. I also now and again use the U by Kotex common pads with Wings, yet I favor the continually Pads. 4) i exploit the U by Kotex somewhat There liners. i love them for prevalent discharge, and the days formerly/after my era. 5) i don't love o.b tampons. they're too small, and they experience weird and wonderful.

yeah, i do the same thing...
don't you just hate pms? whenever i have it i use pads, especially when i go somewhere. usually my tampon doesn't leak, but i like the feeling of security it brings when you're wearing an extra thing. also, you don't have to take your purse to the bathroom when it's time to change, cause then everyone knows you're on it. i just take out the tampon, and I'm still wearing the pad, so i don't really have to do anything.
i used to be afraid of tampons, now i like them better than pads, but yeah, i still use them both. as for the menstrual cups, those are like, huge, and i don't see how you women stick it up there so easily and without pain...

I use the ultra thin pads with a tampon for that exact reason. Using a pad without the tampon is so messy and disgusting. Keep doing what works for you.

P _ _ - - - - _ _ P simple pads get 2/5 of the period pantiliners get 1/5 and tampons get 2/5!! Got it!! Sorry if it sounds like I was calling you stupid I wasn't I've just never heard of anybody not knowing about it!!

Tampons leak only if they're placed incorrectly or you need to use a heavier tampon.

if your tampon is leaking, you need to adjust the "strength". use super instead of regular. liners are usually more suitable as opposed to using an actual pad and tampn
