My period is always regular. Buy my current one is going on longer than usual, today is the 10th day. It normally lasts 5 days. THis one is also lighter than normal. I am not in pain but don't feel that great either. What could be wrong with me? I am going to see my Ob-gen next week but I would like to know if other women have same problems...I am 43 years old.Thanks a lot!

Hi, You could be starting to go through menopause. Periods are very irregular and heavier as you go through the change. It could also be a sign of fibroids. Regardless of which one, you should be seen by a doctor. If it is menopause, the doctor can help you get through it in comfort and if it is fibroids they can be removed, although they rarely are cancerous and usually shrink after menopause, making it less apt to have surgery. It could be a lot of things. You may be on your way to menopause or peri-menopause. Hormone fluctuations can do funky things to your cycle as well. Birth control can cause funky cycles too. Endometriosis can cause extended bleeding times. It's a good thing you are going to see the gyn soon. Discuss this with her/him!

you need to see your doc on an emergency visit
it is not normal to bleed for that long
you could also be starting to go thru early menopause, but your doc will need to do some blood work and test your hormone levels

u may be undergoing some stress knowingly or unknowingly.
Try relaxing. Eat normally a balanced diet.

The other cause can be symptom of meno-pause.
