Since you have always been irregular i dont think i would be too worried. Plus maybe as your getting older it is changing a lil bit. I have a friend who was told that she couldnt have kids and then got pregnant so sometimes drs are wrong esp if you never had a second oppinion. If pregnancy is a concern try taking a test. Then i would make an appt with your doctor to make sure everything is ok and to ease your worries.

First of all, get another gynecologist. I can't believe that he would not give you birth control when you asked for it. Second, go to the drug store and buy a pregnancy test, they are very accurate now days and many are the same type that are used in doctors offices. Third, it is not unusual for woman your age to be irregular, but you could have some underlying medical condition that may need to be looked at.

I agree, this sounds like it could be PCOS. (I have PCOS myself). It is difficult for PCOS patients to get pregnant b/c they do not ovulate regularly. But (if you do have PCOS) that does not mean that you do not ovulate at all. Take a pregnancy test, and regardless of the results go see your ob/gyn. If you are pregant you need to recieve proper support, and if you're not pregnant you need to find out why you're having such irregular cycles. The month where your period lasted 3 weeks is esp. troubling. And don't worry, if it is, it isn't as bad as it seems, and being treated for it is will make your quality of life better. In fact, the usual treatment for PCOS (as long as you don't want to get pregnant) is to go on birth control so that you will have regular periods. Good luck!

The best person to answer this question is you gyn. Not being able to have kids does not mean you can't get pregnant. If you are pregnant, you and the baby are at risk. Irregular periods can mean big problems. Problems that a gyn would need to fix. Good luck dear!

Yes you could be pregnant! You have a hormonal cycle and thats what it takes to have a baby. Go to another doctor! My neice was told after a car wreck she had that did physical damage to her female organs that she couldn't have kids and she wasn't on birth control because of that and whoa! Surprise! Baby! Use protection whenever you have sex. If not for the birth control for the disease control. See another doctor.

From what you are saying, it sounds very much like PCOS (polysystic ovarian syndrome).
You may want to check out a couple of websites about it:

Doc's don't know everything, they just think they do. I would get a test. I would also get a second opinion.
