That would be the left path and conservativeness is the right path...funny thing is that excess can be defined as many things as can conservativeness. So, much for the middle path. The middle path means little problems. The path leads to mediocracy, but also to a more peaceful way of life it that is what you are looking for.

Middle path is the path of self judgement. There are always two sides to any topic. Mostly people try to join the majority to be on the right side of argument. A person following the middle path has to hear the points of both sides and give due merit to each valid argument and then express his own judgement.

I have found that the "middle path" is that which is taken by people that are terrified of life and all the ramifications of their decisions.I am certain that this 'middle path' leads to self -hatred,unfulfilled dreams, and ,ultimately , to an un-happy life. Life in excess----what is excess? If you speak of excess of success, I don't believe there is such a thing. The only issue that I think is of concern is that some people are becoming addicted to their lifestyles/money.

to take the middle path means to balance things, and to live life in excess means to go all out.

Well, it means you are deciding not to take the high road or the low road but where they meet somewhere in between...living life in excess is the high road to me...the low road is mellow, safe, not intense etc..
