every time I go line I get the window that say hp agent is updating

You do not need it. Hewlett Packard installs it whether you like it or not, whenever you buy one of their machines. I usually reformat the hard drives on them and reinstall Windows Xp from a Microsoft CD whenever I get a HP (or a Compaq), as it irritates the crap out of me, as well. Dell used to do that stuff, too, but they're getting better these days.

In my humble opinion you do not need it. Go into Start, Control Panel (sometimes under Settings) and click on Task Bar and Start Menu. Under Start Menu remove anything you do not want to start up just because you turned your computer on.

You dont. Its for people who normally would not do an update on their own. Uninstall it or tell it not to run without problem.
