I love Avatar, I think it is one of the best things out right now. I am a true anime fan, but Avatar is really deep. The first season, the whole Prince Suko and the Fire Nation Saga had me hooked, so I try not to miss an episode of this season either. I think that it is actually underrated, I don't think anime fans really respect it in the same category as stuff like Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, or Inuyasha, you know.

Well i can see why many people would say its overrated due to their point of views. But with mine.
A show being over rated is a show that isnt very good at all but the people are idiots enough to suck it up and love it. But with avatar. This is not the case. It's story is fair and quite good. Even better than any of the other cartoons nickelodeon pulls out. Its characters have good plots for you to get attached too. Case in point. Zuko. I havent seen a character past such as Zuko's in a long time. And i really like that. Avatar is living up a good kiddie hype, but with slightly dark overtones that both Samurai Jack and Teen Titans had. And as most of you know. They both got canned because of that (cept for teen titans due to other "reasons").
So to get to the point. No, i dont think its over rated. Because the fans really do have a good excuse to love it. And to all you haters. Go back to watching Spongebob.

Fact of the matter is, is that Avatar: The Last Airbender is a cartoon that might be made for children, but the storyline is such that it appeals to many adults. Most kids just do not understand the story - let alone the meanings behind the stories. So no, it's not over-rated.

Avatar: The Last Airbender, is a highly overrated television show. I do not have the slightest idea why anyone would find this TV show a bit interesting. The voice-acting is lame, the animation is less than spectacular, and the story-lines are barely tolerable. Avatar is OVERRATED!
