If she is making enough wet diapers, active and healthy looking and gaining as she should then she is eating enough. Stop obsessing over the numbers!

Generally, they say 2-2.5 oz per pound of body weight. (So, a 10 pound baby should drink 20-25oz a day). Divide 24/6, and that's 4 oz each feeeding.

However, different babies have wide variation, and sometimes a baby will vary her drinking from day to day. Some babies drink/eat like clockwork...4 oz every 3 hours or whatever. Others are much more unpredictable...maybe 2 oz here, then 6 oz a few hours later, then another 2 oz an hour after THAT. More important is that your baby is having enough wet diapers each day and continues to gain weight sufficiently.

My baby (4 1/2 mos, about 14-15 pounds) will go through growth spurts where she drinks a LOT...example, last week she drank 36+ ounces AND some cereal for a couple of days, with no particular schedule. Then, this week, she had me worried because she was barely drinking 20 oz a day, no cereal. But, she's done this before, and she continues to grow well.

Again, check the diapers and weight gain. She should be coming up for a 2month checkup soon, so, your doctor will tell you if she's gaining sufficiently. If you're really worried, call and talk to your pediatrician and see what s/he says.

It's a question of how many does she need? You need to write down how many ounces she's been drinking. If she finishes the bottle, add a little more next time. You can tell if the baby needs more. After she finishes the bottle, she will still be sucking on the nipple even when the formula is all gone and her lips are still moving. When it gets to a point where she can't finish the bottle, then that's where you stop adding.

With my kids they always said half of there weight in ounces so if she is 12 pounds she should eat about 6 ounces a feeding. Yet I also believe if they are hungry let themeat I wouldn't want to go hungry.

thats fine that she drinks every 3 hours let that baby drink whatever she wants but try to get the baby to drink every 2 hours and u will see that your baby will drink less but 4 ounces should be just fine

I think it depends on the baby. Some drink more some drink less. You could ask advice from the doctor. But in experience with my own 2 boys, at that age I let them drink as much as they could take.

I nursed and never knew how many oz my kids were getting. my first son ate every 2 hours for at least the first 6 months. I would just let him eat until he was full-even when he went to the bottle, I never really paid attention to the amount, just let him eat. (altho I do know that none of my kids went by that eating half their weight at each feeding)

About 4 ounces usually but depending on her appetite it could be a little more or a little less each feeding.

Depends on what she weighs, but I'd say 2 - 3 oz.
