Meth use in pregnancy can cause MANY MANY problems- premature birth (which causes problems of its own), small birth weight, lung immaturity, physical malformations (can cause ambiguous genitallia, extra digits, internal organ malformations, etc.), mental handicaps, etc. The woman who has been using meth for the first 51/2 months should seek medical attention immediately- and should make sure that she tells the truth to her doctors when she sees them. Then they know which issues to look for.

you wont know until the baby is born but this is really sad and unfortunate. The baby may appear to be healthy at birth but then face tons of problems in childhood like severe learning disabilites and so on. I would hope that a dr is informed about the meth use so that they can take extra precautiuons as well also the sooner you stop using the better. From what i understand meth can be addicting so hopefully the baby is not born with an addiction and has to face withdrawl. If you are the one who is pregnant i hope that you will fight any cravings that you have for meth and start taking care of your baby. THis kinda makes me sick at the irresponsibility and selfishness. I wish the baby much luck and love.

it is possible that they could have mentaland/or physical problems, but it is also possible that he/she could come out perfectly fine.

start taking prenatal vitamins today, they are very important, and make sure you are breathing deeply and getting alot of oxygen to your baby. drink lots of water, and eat healthy.
you cant control what you did in the past but you can give your baby the best possible environment to grow in from here until he/she is born, which will be before you know it!! my parents were drug addicts (heroin, crack and alcohol) and you really cant be a good parent while on drugs. i was raised by my grandparents, because my parents could never give up the party life and commit themselves to being a mom or dad. they were too wrapped up in their own life, and they loved me as much as any other parent, they were just sad and trying to fill some void or something i dont know. but anyways, either you are like them and you should probably consider adoption after giving birth, or you want to be a mom and want to be the type of person who is giving, selfless, etc. which when you are on meth(or any other drug) you are the opposite, everything is about YOUR next fix, how YOU can get more money for meth, how meth makes YOU feel fuct up, etc) you have to decide what you want to be. i have faith that you care about your child because you are concerned about the effects, and you are only a little over halfway through your pregnancy. alot of pregnant women that are strung out on meth or crack or whatever keep doing it without even wondering or caring what they are doing to their child.

This is a question you really should ask a physician! The child will be born addicted, severely under weight, and probably with some severe developmental problems (such as lung problems, nerve problems, etc). The mother needs to go get treatment NOW.

Unfortunately, there is really no 100% way to tell, til the baby is born. The baby can be born perfectly health (which means you go lucky) or it could cause mental retardation, addiction in the child, physical handicaps. I hope this helps you, I'm sure it doesn't put your mind to rest. Nothing will till that little one gets here and you can check them out for yourself. Good luck.
