I lost weight for the first 4 months, then gained more than 40 pounds for the rest. So anything can happen. Don't worry too much about the weight- your doctor will help you know whether to be worried. A friend of mine was sick the whole time and gained less than 10 pounds. Her baby was fine. They recommend gaining 5-7 pounds the first trimester, and the real weight gain starts later. So you're still a ways from needing to be worried.
Just remember that every pregnancy is different. Mine have been nothing like my mom's or my mother in law's.
Hang in there, and don't be afraid to ask your doctor about all these things. Worrying can make you nauseous, too, so do what you can to ease your mind.

I really don't think that family history has a lot to do with the nausea it depends on the person and the baby. With my first one I was a little sick,Second one very sick and third one not at all. I did and also know a lot of other people who lost weight at the beginning. So everything will probably be fine but if it is really bothersome I would ask your doctor

Yes. I lost fifteen pounds during my first pregnancy for the same reason. I was sooo nauseated all the time and I couldn't keep anything down for nearly three months. I eventually gained weight: that second trimester is so fantastic! My child weighed 7lbs 10 ozs at birth. Completely healthy, with apgar scores of 9, then 10. Don't worry yourself too much! If you continue to lose weight into your second trimester, your doctor will let you know when to be concerned.

Everyone has great advice. I will keep it simple. Weight is not the issue nourishment is. Try the new Ensure shake for pregnant women and keep up with the vitamans!!!! I lost weight the first few months with twins and they were born at 39 1/2 weeks at single births weights. Just stay healthy and the baby will be fine I bet
! Good luck!

You will be fine as long as you take your vitamins. For the first three months your baby will be alright even if you don't eat much, My friend was really sick all the time too, she lost 20 pounds the first trimester, then she gained 25. Just make sure you take your vitamins and you can also buy those protein shakes they sell so you drink one every day and at least you get the vitamins and the protein you need for the baby until you can eat more solids without getting sick. Good luck!

I didn't gain any weight during my pregnancy and he was a healthy 7 pound baby I was gestational diabetic. If you are in your first trimester the nausea will get better you can ask your dr. and he/she can prescribe some anti-nausea medicine it is great i took it with my first baby, I think your baby will be fine but do ask about the anti nausea meds. I ended the pregnancy 30 lbs. thinner than i started.

I know people who have lost weight throughout and ended up thinner-- but they were very overweight to begin with. I had another friend who is slender and got sick a lot and only gained 15 lbs. I don't think it's a problem in the first trimester, when weight gain is minimal. If you can't stop barfing, see your doc, b/c you may end up losing too much fluid. Good luck.

It depends on how skinny the person is. I have 3 children and with all my pregnancys i lost weight all the way through them. I am not a skinny girl not am i huge . All of my children came out healthy with no problems. My oldest was 6lbs15.9 ozs , my second was 6lbs 14 ozs, and my last baby was 6lbs 10 ozs. Everyone healthy and happy. Just ask your doctor he can tell you. But yes it is possiable .

i never lost weight but a few friends of mine did and they have extreamly healthy babies. If you continue to lose weight though the dr might want to watch you and the baby more closely to make sure the baby is healthy and you too for that matter. Good luck with your baby!!!!

Yes, it is normal to lose weight during the first trimester if you are nauseous and throwing up a lot. However, if you are thin to begin with and don't "have any weight to lose," call your doctor immediately.
Ginger ale helps with nausea. Hope this helps you!
