Why is Native American considered a race?

Question

When that term is used for people who were the first to inhabit a particurlar place and can be of any race. So wouldn't that make them mix race people because some look Asian some look sort of Black.

I'm saying that black and asian are the same race. I was saying that some Native Americans look black and some look asian, two totally different looks.

"Natives" of this country refer to themselves as OP's (original people). This country wasn't named America by them. They are labeled by their being here first. As far as the descriptions that you gave you used Asian as an ethnic description but used a color as a description for African American. Why? Also the Op's have different genetic makeups just like every other ethnic group. I know African Americans who have slanted eyes and they are not mixed race. The darker skinned Natives are obviously from the hotter regions just like darker skinned caucasians and African Americans and any other race who live there. The colder the climate year round the paler the skin tone.

"native american" is just the generalized term for first nations people in the americas. ask any native person, and they're gonna tell you their tribal affiliation before you'll get "native american" as an answer.

same as all lighter skinned people are white regardless of the country their ancestors are from and all african americans are dubbed as such, but africa is not a country. it's just a way of grouping people with similar backgrounds.

The Native Americans were here first, and YES, they are a race. What else would you call them? They are decendants from the mayan indians and the mongols centuries ago.

what you are looking at is the ethnicity, not race. technically there is a difference ( i forget how they seperate the 2 though)

They are of Mongoloid decent, same as eskimos. And no they don't look black, us blacks sometimes look like them cause they married in to us just like whites and other races.
