Immediately, fetus' eyes are open in the womb, they close in the last months, but they can open right away, most do. They sleep a whole lot, but their eyes are open.....are you just asking, or do you have a new born who hasn't opened their eyes? You might want to take the baby to a doctor if the latter is the case.

Well, in animals I understand it is not always right away.. If you are asking about humans they have their eyes open even inside you, they can see shadows and light. They open their eyes as soon as they are born also. Please do not take this the wrong way but if you are pregnant PLEASE get a "What to expect when you are expecting book" or at least go to a book store or library and read up on what you are in for.... Good luck... =)

My son didn't open his eyes up really good nor for very long at a time until he was about a week old. He wouldn't even open em up for his picture at the hospital.

Immediatley. Its just bright in the room and hard for them to open, kinda like after you have been in the dark and someone turns on bright lights all of a sudden.
