Tubal ligation reversal enables women to conceive naturally and is the best treatment for most women wanting to become pregnant again after having their tubes tied. Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center publishes follow-up statistics which show that two-thirds of Dr. Berger's patients become pregnant within one year after surgery.

Whist the pregnancy rate varies by type of tubal ligation performed, length and health of the remaining fallopian tube segments, age, and other factors, tubal reversal has a higher pregnancy rate and a higher birth rate than IVF.

The success of tubal reversal surgery depends on a woman's age, the type of sterilization performed, and the amount of tube remaining after surgery. One way to determine what your success rate may be is with the operative report from your tubal ligation. You can get a copy from the doctor who performed your surgery or from the medical records department at the hospital. I know that Dr. Gary Berger at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center will review it at no charge and will offer his opinion. Dr. Berger is able to repair the tubes in 98% of cases and his pregnancy rates are around 75%.

I hope this helps.
