I'm going to have to say the shootout scene from the movie Heat with Al pacino/robert deniro/val kilmer/etc. That was just a straight up realistic looking scene with great realizm with everything including the cover and movement.

a lot of answers mention Scarface but to me, the whole movies looks too fake. Yeah, its based on real actions and some scenes are memerable, but the shootout scene to me is REALLY not well done. People shooting from the hip and swinging left and right doesn't work in real life. Sorry to break your hearts, but its not scarface... at least not for me.

for realism? "Heat" with Pacino, Kilmer, and Robert De Niro
for all out, greatest freakin scene ever? the end of "Equilibrium" with Christian Bale and Taye Diggs - the 'Gun Kata' was the best idea and made that movie stand way the hell out, and the action was probably the best to this day

Clint Eastwood & Sondra Locke holed up in Locke's house as the entire county Sherriff's department riddles the house with bullets in the film "THE GAUNTLET". The scene lasted well over 5 minutes. Eastwood was outnumbered but got out a few rounds from a window. Very intense as the two of them crawled on the floor dodging bullets. Miraculously they both survived by escaping through a drain tunnel from under the bathroom sink. Shortly after, the house collapses.

Tombstone starring Kurt Russell. The scene at the OK corral is one of my all time favories. Also the shootout in the same movie where they are next to a creek and get caught in a crossfire. Watching Kurt Russell as he wades through the creek amid the gunfire was unforgettable.

Saw a kind of obscure aussie movie the other night called "Proposition" that led of with a good shoot out scene.

I like The Godfather - When Pacino's baby is getting baptized and every mob leader is getting shot, one by one. That's amazing!
But the end of Scarface is really, really the best!
