my daughter fought at my breast the entire time we were in the hospital. then the nurses gave me a nipple shield....it worked wonders! i used it for a few weeks, and then went back to the bare nipple. we haven't had any problems since then. the nurses said that sometimes babies need a longer "anchor," so to speak, while they are learning to latch on.
one of my girlfriends had a baby boy who would fight her, while breastfeeding. she gave him gas drops BEFORE every feeding and he stopped fighting.
my sister's daughter would also fight her....until my sister stopped using scented lotion to moisturize her breasts.
hope some of this was helpful.

A couple of thoughts... is your let-down really strong? You said you have a lot of milk, and sometimes if there's an abundance, a baby will fight the breast because the flow is too fast. If that's not the case, maybe the flow is just a little weaker on one side, so she prefers the other. You can tell by when she pulls off - - either the milk will be still squirting out if the let-down is strong(sorry) or it will seem dry, in which case she's probably mad that it's not fast enough. Some babies are just really sensitve to the flow, and if it doesn't suit them, they'll let you know it!
Have you ruled out the biggies like thrush or allergy to something you're eating? You'd know it if that were the case, she would be uncomfortable as well as pulling away from the breast.
How does she take the bottle? I would try a test: give her a bottle with a size 1 nipple, then another at another time with a size 2 or 3, and see if that makes a difference. Then you'll know if she likes a stronger flow or a weaker one. If you determine that your one side is weak, pump, pump, pump on that side! It's really the only thing that will boost it.
The important thing is that you are committed to breastfeeding, and though it's frustrating to watch her fight at the breast, you know that one way or another she is getting the best thing for her. Congrats, and good luck!

Im not sure what you mean by fights you.... but my baby is 4 months old and when were in public she wont nurse because she is too overstimulated. Maybe you could make your nursing environment calm and dim the lights and make it a soothing comfortable time. She also only eats on one side at a time and its about every 2 hours she eats. Shes 15 lbs... the drs dont seem worried about her at all. Just as long as your baby is gaining weight the way he/she is supposed to and getting your milk any way he/she can then everything should be fine. Maybe a lactation consultant could help you with your nursing problem though. Most hospitals have them and their services are free if you stop by to see them. GOOD LUCK!! DONT GIVE UP! its the best thing in the world that you can do for your baby! also... your body will adgust to her feeding only on one side. You might have a slight let down on the other side but i just wear disposable pads all the time.

My son did this for the first four days after he was born. All I had to do is switch the position that I was holding him and then he did great. In 7 days he gained 10 ounces and even though after two months I had to stop breast feeding he is still doing great. He is now 11 months.
If you ever want to talk email me valjordan@yahoo.ca

Maybe she doesnt like the "hold" (position in which you are feeding her.) Maybe try a new hold and see if that helps. If she doesnt feel comfortable, she might squirm and not feed. Far as feeding from only one breast-seems like it would cause engorgement in the one she doesnt feed from and a lot of soreness from the one she likes.
