Does that mean I'm smart and everyone around me is an idiot or I'm just an idiot and naturally attract other idiots?

That is soooooo funny. About 5 times a day i find myself muttering "i'm surrounded by idiots!". It is not a reflection on you, it is simply a sad true fact that there are others out there that somehow are functioning without a clue. I suspect their main purpose in life is to drive us stark raving mad.

It means if you're not an idiot to start with you will soon become on after hanging around idiots all the time.

I'm going with a 3rd choice: You're smart enough to recognize idiots! And you're definitely in the right place for it!

I think it means that you're an idiot too... you attract the kind of people that are similar to you... (didn't mean to offend ya, but you asked)...

I'd say if you were able to recognize the intelligence difference between your peers and yourself, you may be smarter than them, possibly making you an "idiot-magnet."
