I'm assuming you want to factor this

5z^2 + 4z -12 = (5z -6)(z+2)

   1   2 →   10
    ×
×) 5   -6 → +) -6
─────── ───
  5   -12      4


5z^2+4z-12=(z+2)(5z-6)

5z^2+4z-12=0? I assume you want it to =0
(5z-6)(z+2)=0

5z-6=0
z=1.2

z+2=0
z=-2
