Borax is usually not applied to glass, but it has been used in the manufacture of glass.

Sand (silica or flint) is mixed with borax.

Borax has also been used to fuse into a pellet for "borax bead tests."

a bead test is uesed in testing metal not glass
and and it is used to make a type of glass called Borosilicate_glass also knowen as Pyrex. Pyrex is the glass uesd to make pots and pans.
