Is Yao finally better than Shaq? He dominated in points score over all Centers / Power fowards (ie, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Brand, Miller, etc) since the 2nd half of last year and continues to do so this year.

Is he finally the best of all centers and power forwards today?

He is the best center in the nba. He''s not a center so you can't compare him to power forwards. The best center used to be Shaq but he is too old already and the torch is now passed to Yao. He still has a ways to go but he is improving every year and is definitely the best center right now.

It relies upon. today, that is totally close because Shaq is on the shrink back of his occupation. He nonetheless ratings and rebounds quite solid and he's declared to be the finest passing center contained in the league today. Yao is only a scorer, he doesn't even rebound a lot for the way tall he's. Shaq is perhaps nonetheless a touch more effective today yet in his best, Shaq replaced into the finest of both gamers by far. Plus Yao will by no potential win a championship and Shaq has 5 - 6 rings from even as he replaced into with the lakers.

Of course! Shaq has done anything last season and this. He piggy backed his way through the playoffs. If it wasn't for D-Wade, Zo, and Walker they wouldn't have won. Shaqs skills have been in a decline for years. While Yao is lighting people up, but is a little weak on the defensive side, but Shaq never really played D. He just stood there and people were afraid. Yao is going to be the best center for years to come.

Yao has a long way to go... Shaq has much more of a killer instinct (seems to me that Yao is getting better in that department) and is a better all around player than Yao on both ends of the court.

Yao has great potential, but he's at the point in his career where he needs to start really producing consistently... his last game was a great start! He needs to dominate like that every night though... and there's no reason why he can't... centers in the NBA are NOT that good anymore...Yao needs to build up the stamina to play that way every night... and, he needs to play this way in the playoffs...Shaq is one of the greatest postseason players ever,Yao needs to have some good playoff runs to move ahead of Shaq, but he seems to be getting there.

No, he still has a bit to go for that. Do you remember Penny with Shaq? Do you remember Kobe with Shaq? Do you remember Wade with Shaq last yr? Hmmmmmmm, it's very coincidental that these players are compared to Michael Jordan (Kobe and Wade), or Magic Johnson (Penny), while playing with Shaq. Fans don't realize that this past season was not the best season for Kobe statistically. His '02-'03 campaign was his best year in Efficiency numbers. Go do the math for yourself. Also, these three players all have had MUCH HIGHER FG%'s while playing with Shaq as opposed to without him. It's just very coincidental to me.. hmmmmmmm.. And it's also coincidental that Kobe went from being compared to MJ (an all around game inside and out), to basically a jump-shooting 2 guard. Shaq is on the downside of his career but he's still making the players around him MUCH BETTER. When Yao does that, we can consider him, but until then Shaq is the better BB player.

Yao is definetly a excellent fundmental player but i would not say hes the best in the league because he isnt winning games like Shaq and Duncan are so i still put Shaq ahead of the list.

Shaq has really slowed down due to age/injury...so yes, Yao is definitely better along with many other centers that are also younger and better than Shaqdaddy.

right now he is. Shaq is getting old, and seems to be hurt more and more. Yao plays like a beast, most of the time. I would talk Yao over Shaq right now.

Not yet. Yao has been lighting them up on the offensive side but on the defensive side of the ball, his presence is known as being posterized on -- that's what's happening this year. I give him two years, and if he doesn't be more aggresive on defense, then he'll never be the top center in the NBA.

Yao had a tremendous game last night....

35 points

17 Rebounds

7 blocked shots

If he can play at 70% of last game, he will be the best. Time will tell.
