saw a man beating his girlfriend/ wife in the street...i'd just left work and drove about 50 yards up the road when i saw this guy laying into his girlfriend/wife....2 people walked past them...a few were watching from the other side of the road...but this one guy intervened, he took a beating too....i pulled over and called the police.... i feel that i did the right thing because he was really beating her bad...the lad who got beaten was carted off in an ambulance covered in blood..she was screaming her head off at the police man who was trying to calm her down and he was sat in the back of the police car...i think he was arrested for not just beating her...but for beating the lad too...because they drove off with him and she was left on her own outside the taxi rank...i drove off but i felt like i had snitched on someone, i did it to stop her from getting really hurt...would any of you do this if you saw something like that happen? theres one thing i detest is violence

i must add that i was tempted to go back and give her a lift home, but as i was driving off she got into a cab..now i worry that when he gets home, he will beat her again, he may be locked up for the night but it's obvious that he's a woman beater and needs to be stopped, i do hope he goes to jail for it, that poor lad tried his best but this guy was huge, he did'n sand a chance...hope he's ok....jeez i am still shaking after seeing that...it was horrific

You did absolutely the right thing. Absolutely. Congratulations. there are too few courageous people in the world like yourself. Yes, he will probably go on beating her, and she will go on taking it, we all make choices in life. She may suddenly wake up one day and think "I've had enough". but that's not the point. You intervened in a safe way and stopped the other poor man from possibly being killed. Please don't feel you snitched on anyone. You are strong and honest and brave.

you did the right thing. you were the good samaritan. You were dealing with a vicious person by the sounds of it. You might even have saved the young person's life. You don't know. I should have done that, and might have if I had thought about it once, but something happened. My nature in that time saw a woman being beaten, my steps automatically turned towards them. I clipped the guy and he went down and stayed there. I just kept going.
I have seen an episode where a guy had actually stabbed his wife/girlfriend outside a bar. someone tried to step between them and the foolish wife climbed on this guy's back and began to beat on him until the police arrived and put him in the wagon, and pulled her off the guy and took her too.
Police do not like intervening in family disputes. A cop never knows if his actions will be appreciated or if he will find himself in jeapardy by trying to stop the one partner. Quite often, even though abused, the woman will do everything physically possible to prevent her spouse from being arrested. That can and does include weapons.
After all that, the simple answer is, go girl, you did good. Never change.....please.

You did the right thing. So many people refuse to get involved in domestic violence issues. You more than likely saved her life. I have been abused in the past, and no one ever got involved. People just turn the other way not wanting to take a stand. The bad thing about it she will probably not press charges out of fear, or not wanting to be alone. Hats off to you for your bravery, and I'm sure the other lad appreciated your help too. I would have done the same thing, and only wished someone like you would have been around then for me. Thank you for your courage.

I would do the same. No matter what is the inside or detailed problem, I just don't ignore a man beating a woman and another lad. Well, maybe some people don't want to because they think the beater will get angry at them and he/she might be hurt, too!

Good on you, you did the right thing, someone could have god killed, feel sorry for the women, just left on the side of the road, that must have been awful for her, hope she has got away from him, while he was locked up....no you did the right thing good luck and god bless, there should be more people willing to not turn the other way, or just walk away.

one night our town had a festival and it was the end of the night. i was driving home i looked behind some buildings for soem friends and saw a man beating this woman. i got so mad i ran over grabbed him threw him on the ground and started punding on him i never been so mad in my life. i wanted to kill him. then the next thing i know i am getting hit from behind, it was the woman. i stood up totally surprised, then an officer came running toward us. i knew the officer and after i told him what happened and asked him why she was acting like that. he said tomorrow he will be out and if it didn't look like she was defending him then he would beat her worse. to this day i just hope i hurt him badly enough he couldn't touch her later. maybe she took the time to get away from him. i know she wasn't really mad at me just scared.

Your an angel sent to help those people. Not many people will do something like what you did. I personally I would call the police too. But you got so many people who are scared to get involve in any one else problems that they just walk/drive by like they dont' exist. We need more people like you around.

Why would you feel bad for reporting a crime? I think you would feel worse if you didn't report it...He could have killed her.
I used to be in an abusive relationship where I was strangled and I'm glad the next door neighbor called the police.

No you did the right thing and given what happened to the guy who intervened you were wise not to have tackled the thug yourself. Sympathies to the good samaritan though.
