Ways to prepare for an earthquake are:
1. Do not live or work in a structure which is likely to "pancake" in the event of an earthquake. This would be any multi-story structure which does not have substantial bracing in both horizontal directions.
2. For the places you live and work, identify an quick way to get out of the building, so if you fell it start to shake hard, you know how to get out before big things start falling on you. For lesser shakes, you can protect your self from small things falling by hiding under a very sturdy piece of furniture or standing in a doorway.
3. Know where the tall things outside are, like water towers and chimneys and older masonry buildings. You need to know where these are so that you can stay away from them so that they or pieces of them, do not fall on you.
4. Keep a radio with fresh batteries. After an earthquake, you might need information about where to go for assistance, especially if it turns out that the first place you would think of going is a place that got destroyed. The radio stations would constantly be broadcasting that type of information.
5. Have a few days worth of water and non-perishable food on hand. That way, if you lose electrical power and the gas supplies are cut, and the water mains break, you can still feed yourself. If the highways are damaged, the grocery stores will run out of this stuff pretty quickly, so have your own.
. Thinking along these lines, I am sure that you can think of some more things that should be done.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

1. assume you will survive, then make sure you have supplies available in the event of extended power outages. Have at least 3 days supply of food and water. First aid supplies, radio so you have a way to get info. Light sources: flashlights, candles, light sticks. Check on neighbors, don't count on government to help.
