Sorry but I am from America Jr. but I do believe that they happen 2, 1, 3.
I think that the first thing that people discriminate against what they can see, examples are in school where kids make fun of each others clothes or their hair style.
Next, people tend to discriminate about what is not normal to them or how they were raised. If they were raised by old fashioned values where men should be attracted to women and women should be attracted to men. When they see a lesbian or gay couple walking down the street, most people immediately say that it is wrong and would treat them different.
Lastly is religious beliefs. Many people don't openly talk about their religion at work or school. Todays society accepts a wide variety of religion and, I feel, treats it all the same.

2. Discrimination based on one's race.
1. Discrimination based on one's sexual orientation.
3. Discrimination based on one's religious beliefs
I have seen so many people turned down for jobs because of their race and how it's perceived by society's stereotyping, in spite of their qualifications.
When someone states their sexual orientation, I've seen the after effect and it isn't pretty. They get laughed at and people say snide things behind their backs regardless of how they were perceived before.
In a post-911 America, we see that Muslims are being discriminated against. Here in the US, it was the norm to accept any religion other than Christian before 911. You were thought to be progressive and open-minded if you were open to anything. You were thought to be ignorant and horrid if you believed in God and Jesus. Now it's a bit different with patriotism being the "new black". It's in fashion to be 'All American' once again and this is the only example that I've seen open cases of discrimination based on religion. It's definitely recent.
You can't count the bombings of black churches because the churches were bombed, burned or damaged because the congregations are black, so that brings us back to #2 being the number one source of discrimination. Do it on the down low and pretend to want to hold hands and teach the world to sing with the other races.
God bless America!

You actually have them in the order that I would have suggested. However, I've been stationed overseas for 3 yrs now and things may have changed. I also think it depends on the state you're in. I'm originally from NY to where discrimination is present yes, but we're such a pot luck that everyone pretty much isn't set back by much :0? However when i relocated to GA, I do notice that race and religion are big issues there which in turn touches upon the sexual orientation topic as well.....depending on the person you talk to, down there i would change the order to 2,3,1. But again, as i stated before, I'm overseas, outside one month a yr, so i may be "out of touch" with "reality" stateside.
good luck with your research.
maybe one day, we all will be able to look past a person's sexual orientation, skin color and beliefs and just live our own lives to the fullest.....no judgements placed upon each other....ahhhhhh one can only dream :0)
take care

Of course this is only my "opinion" so hopefully, no one will get cross with me. Your #1 & #2 are so closely connected, I'd find it difficult to place them. I'll put religious beliefs as #1 because so many other sorts of discrimination arise out of them, & against each other. #2, sexual orientation--(primarily based on religion), where the most heinous crimes against gays & lesbians have occurred & they're still fighting so hard for the "privilege" of marriage. #3 race; I may be naive--but I've seen a great deal of progress in that area. (Your limiting it to this country makes quite a difference too, as I'm sure you understand.) I sincerely hope you don't get any "nasty" answers--this is a good, provocative question. It deserves serious thought.

Discrimination is more of a subconscious thing than the conscious act of slagging at someone you disagree with. Seriously, what you think is just as harmful as what you do. I wish no one would discriminate anyone, but for some reason I don't think that's about to happen.

Well, I feel that humans will have to are living the way in which they desire to are living so I won't pass judgement on them approximately that. HOWEVER, I could certainly not be worried in a love affair with anyone I met over the web. I might take a seat right here and inform you that i am 25 years historical, blond hair, blue eyes make $958,000.00 in keeping with 12 months, force a BMW and feature a seaside apartment in Miami. But, that is no longer actual, no longer even near. So, I bet I would not believe anyone for a love affair that I met on-line. What approximately you? What is your opinion?

yeah, the most often that i feel exists is number 1 and the least is number 3. Because always people are descriminating about others peoples sexual orientation and that's just a private opinion and likely.
