First off... Do not get pregnant if you do not intend to have the baby. Abortion is not an acceptable form of birth control. I am not sure about all abortion procedure but here are two that I have heard about and am familiar with: One is administered in the first trimester. The doctor performing the procedure uses a vacuum devices that sucks the embryo from the uterus. Second and third trimester abortions are illegal in most cases unless there is a serious threat to the mother. The other abortion is a partial birth abortion. This is when the child is being born the doctor kills the baby. Yes kills! I understand that partial birth abortions are legal but I do not understand why??? I am very sad to know that there are people out there that approve, administer and or consent to such an act.

Not such a good question to ask on this site....... But they put you in a room with a counselor, show you pictures and make sure you understand what you are doing and how they will do it. They can give you some medicine to calm your nerves. I hope you are not further than 10-12 weeks. They stick a machine up to open your cervix, they dislodge the placenta which kills the baby and then they suck the baby out in pieces, send the baby to a special lab for all sorts of testing and experiments. Sometimes the baby is sucked out whole and they can do more testing and experiments on it. It could also ruin your chances of ever having a baby later in life. It is really a sad thing and everytime you see a baby for a while you will cry and have the "what-ifs" and each year your baby would be a little older so you will find yourself watching children the age your little one would be. Even though you will not have that child you will always wonder "what-if" Better , have you thought of having it and adopting it out?? There are even agencies that will house you while you are pregnant so you do not have to be around people you know. You can just tell everyone you went away for schooling for 10 months and do an internet course while you are pregnant. There are sooo many people who want to adopt newborn babies and they can not have them on their own and they would give your little one such a good home. Obviously if you are asking this question on this site you are having doubts about doing it.... At least if you adopted it out that way you would know you did not kill your little one.... By the way the heart is beating by the 6-7th week !!!

Well I read a book about abortion procedures and it was really disturbing. They do different things, but here are some of the bad ones, first of all they numb you, they give you an epidural and make sure you are completely numb. Then depending on how far along you are, if you are less than 3 months the doctor scrapes your cervix until the baby is out. If you are over 3 months, they do different things, one of them is they insert "Salt" inside your womb until baby is completely burned! and then they suck it out. Anyway you see it is bad, can you imagine a small baby going through this? Oh it hurts, anyway, If you are thinking about doing it, think about it again, do not do something that you will regret.

I see you've already gotten the predictable Bible-thumping "don't do it!" shrieks from a bunch of people, which should prove to you that this site is not a good place to get an informative response to your important question. This is one of the few situations in which I would not recommend looking on the internet; you'll just end up on sites run by more religious crazies.

Instead, look in your phone book for Planned Parenthood numbers or Pregnancy Crisis counselors. Give them a call and either talk on the phone or go there in person to discuss your options. They will be able to accurately answer your questions, without trying to scare you or guilt you.

Don't let anyone else's opinion about abortion make the decision for you. Giving babies up for adoption is all well and good to talk about, but for some people it's simply not the right decision. Don't feel like a bunch of people you don't even know have the right to make you feel bad.

In early abortion they can do several things to kill the baby. Sometimes they flood the uterus with saline (salt water) which BURNS the baby. In late term abortions they put you into labor till the baby's head and chest are delivered and then take a pair of scissors and cut a hole in the back of the baby's neck and RIP the baby's brain out. It depends upon how far along you are. They.. like do an ulta sound and some blood work to make sure you are pregnant.

You can be given meds so you are kinda out of it during the procedure.
If you are early on, they just do a D&C and it is no big deal.
If you are later on, they need to soften your cervix with some medication on your cervix and then they do the proceedure.

It's no big deal Just get it done as early as you can.
