I agree totally. In my opinion he was the greatest scientist ever because of the following reason.

I think he was a great philosopher as well as scientist - I believe his theories may have born from philosophic thinking and grown into full fledged theories through a great scientific mind.

He wrote special relativity at the age of 26. Spent several years modifying it to "fit" special situations, such as the rotation of the Earth.

IMO, he jumped into stating an obvious fact, that motion is relative, but did not think through all the ramifications of his mathematics. Thus, the resulting "twins paradox" of the theory.

No question he had skills as a mathematician, but philosophically speaking, no. Motion may be relative, true, but ALSO , it is force dependent, as Newton stated, in 1687.

Newtons discoveries far outweigh Einstein's.

If Einstein hadn't published it, others would have, as the Lorentz transformation equations were common knowledge among physicists at that time. He beat um to the punch.

me too but I think that ( by reading his books and the biographies that his kids wrote.... That all thought he was a great thinker and did so much for science and math.... he wasn't the best dad. AND one of his wife's was as smart as he .......( some of his mathematical work was thought to be possibly done by his wife???... ... But I think with out him ... our world would be behind for the advances in Math and science.

( there was a great documentary done on the progression of E=MC square...ON PBS ......... it talked about the first thinkers .. and how there breakthrough led to Einsteins theories .. It was so cool... yu probably saw it... it was a longer show... But so neat. )

I think there are many brilliant people in this world...he just came at a certain time and knew something Jungian that he presented at a needed time. Many other minds could have and would have made the same conclusions he did, God just decided it was his turn to be first.

I myself prefer Newton -- if that apple hadn't hit him in the head, we'd never know about gravity. (Which laid the groundwork for such greats as Einstein to follow).

He was lucky to have a sponsor and didn't have to spend all his time working for the man and had time to think and have someone listen. If you tell an idiot something important, they won't beleive you.
