India or Egypt most likely. Both have documented civilizations going back for severa millenea. China, while fairly old, did not have a UNITED country until well into the 12th century. Egypt probably has a longer history as a united country than India...although India does have the oldest known religion....so it's a tough call...but most likely one of those two.

Iraq, China, Egypt, etc... have all been around a long time but their governments have all changed form many times. The oldest surviving government body on Earth is Iceland's legislature, Althing, which was founded in 930 AD.

Egypt has been a country since pretty much the dawn of civilisation. In the Asian part of the Middle East there were many different empires and countries that controlled that region so none of them would be considered the oldest country since none of them stayed established in any way.

the united kingdom merely blows Spain, France and Germany out of the water while it contains genocide, suffering, and homicide on a international scale. Im not asserting Spain and Germany would not have achieved worse if that they had the possibility yet that is incredibly a no-brainer. regrettably they're nevertheless obtainable occupying countries merely like the united states. you will possibly think of they might have found out after numerous centuries.

According to my sources, it could be San Marino, China, or Iraq depending on your definition.
However, in terms of average life expectancy, the oldest country (population-wise) is Japan.
Thanks for the best answer and the interesting challenges.

A country by name only or with consistent government? My bet is the UK, Great Britain, the longest continual form of government "today", no revolutions, overthrows, etc. since 1707 "Act of Union". Followed by the USA.
