Nope. It's a sign of your compassion and acute awareness of the suffering of others. I feel the same way.
It's not something to be ashamed of. Only problem is the fact that the world is not perfect and try as we may, there will always be insensitive, racist people.

while you haven't really stated an actual example, i feel u r just one of the few people in this world who CARES and you should be proud. it is ppl like you who should serve as a role model to other people who don't show the same respect, decency, and courtesy as u do. just try not to take things too harshly. u may feel bad that racism and prejudice still occurs today, IT ISN'T UR FAULT. all u can do is preach that respect and courtesy the people who raised u have instilled into ur wonderful self to the pathetic and ignorant racists u meet along the road of life. Have a wonderful fantastic day, dear!!

No I don't think that you are being overly sensitive. I feel exactly the same. I think people who are disrespectful like that are very insecure about who they are.

This kind of talk is projected self-hatred.
Guess what---it takes effort to get along with people and respect people. But, it's well worth it because we do not have to waste time feeding our hate.
If you love and respect yourself, you will do the same for others.
"Tune out" this sort of talk, and the people that do it---they are not worth your attention.
